I've been following Nadia's Helium Grants since she started posting about it. It is such an interesting formulation and so close to something that I've done in the past that I'm super excited to see how it evolves.
In my experience, sponsoring grants has a high hapiness ROI.
Here is a list of really good posts from Nadia:
- seed stage philantropy
- doing good and being quiet
- how to give away 5k on the internet
- 5k no strings attached
The thing that is a bit off on that program (and the one I ran in the past) is that there is a marginal cost involved in running them: every new batch of grantees requires organizers to pay a non-zero cost to run the program, which makes it difficult to continue in perpetuity.
Are you aware of any instruments that enables grants to fund (recursively) the next generation of grantees ad infinitum?
